This is How it Starts

Well, I finally decided to jump into the world of blogging, everyone makes that choice eventually, right? As I dive into a deeper independent artist career I wanted to create a landing page for my thoughts as it relates to this journey. It's a journey I started in the 3rd grade when I started taking piano lessons, and it's taken me to far away and distant lands, like #Minnesota.

I don't have the clearest vision as to what this blog will be, but I plan to focus on four areas:

-#Songwriting/Music Production

-Music Review

-Recording Gear

-General thoughts about my love for music

These are my passions, and I'm excited to share them with you. Speaking of sharing, I'll leave with with a One Minute Jam I collaborated on with my friend, Rob McCabe (he's the one on the right in the above photo). One Minute Jams are my way to create short snippets of musical content to get my Facebook page up and running.

I decided I wanted to try something a little more difficult than my previous OMJ videos. I wanted something in the style of Snarky Puppy, similar to one of my favorite videos right now on YouTube, Lingus. So I wrote a little something in 5/4 time and had Rob shred some drums on it. Rob KILLED the drum groove and had some slick improv in the middle section. Overall, I hope my OMJ videos give me a chance to improve my composing skills. I have a lot of musical ideas up in the old noggin', it's nice to have a place to write them down, record, and share them.
